Meadowlark Trail /Rattlesnake Gulch Trail / Grazing Elk Trail / Plymouth Creek Trail

The initial hill up to the up Plymouth Creek Trail to the Meadowlark trail seems steeper than it actually is.  The Meadowlark part was nice but didn’t have much shade.  I could see Grazing Elk trail from Meadowlark, including the part I missed last week.  So I went down Rattlesnake Gulch trail, which ended at the point I left Grazing Elk trail and I was able to finish that off as well:

South Valley Park – Valley View Trail – Grazing Elk Trail – Swallow Trail

This was the first hike of the season. We were only supposed to go five miles, but I took a wrong turn and ended up adding an extra mile along the road.

This was a nice hike with almost no shade. People could rollerblading along the Valley View Trail if they wanted because it is paved. It is listed as moderate, but I would call it easy.

Tequila went the whole way at about 80 degrees and refused water until we got home.

  • Distance: 6.1 miles
  • Time: 1:58:32 minutes
  • Avg Speed: 3.1 mph

East Fork Trail, NM

We went on a camping trip to Red River, NM and decided to go on this trail.  Lina set the pace and it was a very nice trail until it started raining and hailing. We probably shouldn’t have driven the roads up to it in Lina’s Mini Cooper.

Here are the stats:

Distance: 2.8 Miles

Elevation Gain: 499ft

Moving time: 1:08:42

Average pace: 2.43 mph
