People who live on the peninsula are well acquainted with 2,800-foot Black Mountain, the peak that forms a rounded green backdrop for the communities around Palo Alto. The town of Mountain View was named for its vista of the verdant peak. It’s always there, anchoring the background of the lives of thousands.

This was a fantastic little hike with beautiful views and a great little enclosed trail that would be fantastic in the summer for some much needed shade!! A funny moment occurred when I read “the trail provides excellent opportunities for spotting wildlife” and turned the corner to see the fox who didn’t seem too concerned to see me.
