I was headed to upstate NY from Albany and decided to stop for a hike here. The map isn’t and the trail markers sucked in places. I ended up following a “green” trail directly out of the park where I met the groundskeeper for the nearby property. I asked him where I was was and how I got there and he laughed. Apparently the park is notorious for the poor trail markers and people get lost all the time.
I retraced my steps and ended up back on the regular trail. The heat, mud, and roots (I had a good name for them when I was hiking) made this hike a little more challenging that it normally would have been. I would have liked it a lot more with better trail markers.

North Rim and South Rim Red Trail Loop is a 5.3 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Schenectady, New York that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
